The ASASM (“ ASA Service Module”) can only run 8.5 or 9.x. For example, “ Cisco ASA 1000V cloud firewall” can only run 8.7 version.
Not all ASAs can run any version of code. Cisco ASA now days can run three generations of code, depending on the hardware platform and memory installed.
